The Modeling, Mapping, and Consequence (MMC) Production Center was recertified as a Mandatory Center of Expertise (MCX) in July 2020. The MMC mission includes producing hydraulic models, inundation maps, consequences estimates, and technical reports for USACE watersheds, dams, and levees in support of Critical Infrastructure Protection and Resilience (CIPR), Water Management (WM), and Dam and Levee Safety Programs. All products are developed in accordance with MMC standard operation procedures (SOP). MMC products support a risk-based assessment, prioritization and management framework for the USACE CIPR, WM, Dam Safety and Levee Safety Programs. Further details are available in the MMC MCX authorization memo and Engineer Regulation (ER) 10-1-54. MMC Production Center efforts also provide the Risk Management Center (RMC) with critical feedback for refining and updating USACE guidance and policy within the MMC functional areas. The MMC Production Center is assigned to the Vicksburg District. District staff members across all USACE continental United States (CONUS) divisions are part of a virtual team working for the MMC to complete studies and as such, the MMC Production Center also plays an important role in developing and maintaining USACE competencies in the Hydrology, Hydraulics, and Coastal Engineering (HH&C), Economics, and Geospatial Communities of Practice (CoP). The MMC Production Center created the SOP documents to maintain consistency throughout the evaluation and deliverable development steps necessary for efficiently and effectively meeting CIPR, WM, and Dam and Levee Safety Program requirements.
