Mapping

The MMC Mapping and Documentation Branch Chief and Mapping Technical Lead are based at the USACE Kansas City District. The mapping team includes three GIS experts located in Jacksonville and one virtual member in Omaha. Additional GIS experts may be requested to assist with MMC production or to support the Flood Inundation Mapping (FIM) efforts during major floods.

The MMC mapping team is responsible for developing emergency action plan (EAP) maps using the final project HEC-RAS model prepared by the MMC modeling team. The assigned mapping member will initiate a pre-mapping kick-off meeting with the district to discuss map extent, map book page layout, inundation display, and any other specific district requirements.

Final maps are subjected to independent quality review (IQR) and are posted to the Corps of Engineers Dam and Levee Safety (CEDALS) ProjectWise project folders. This ensures that the maps are accessible to all relevant stakeholders and can be used to support decisions related to dam and levee safety.
