The MMC Modeling Branch Chief is located at the USACE Vicksburg District, and the modeling team includes Technical Leads, Team Leads, and modelers distributed across multiple USACE districts. The team consists of hydraulic engineers trained to develop standard MMC models with ten scenarios (five breach and five non-breach) according to established SOP guidelines.
Modeling files and results are essential products that feed the consequences, documentation, and mapping production efforts of the MMC Production Center. Product development is complex and time-consuming, making it the most demanding phase of the MMC Production Center process. In most cases, the team develops an unsteady HEC-RAS one-dimensional (1D) and/or two-dimensional (2D) model to support the MMC program.
Final HEC-RAS models are subjected to independent quality review (IQR) and are uploaded to the Corps of Engineers Dam and Levee Safety (CEDALS) ProjectWise project folders. This ensures that the models are available to all relevant stakeholders and can be used to support decisions related to dam and levee safety.
